The Bachelor of Music (BM) degree with an emphasis in Music Theory teaches students how music works, critical listening, technical performance, and composition. The program requires 123-143 hours, including courses in music theory, music history, studio instruction, and ensembles. It is designed for the student who intends to pursue a career as a composer, performer, or college teacher, as well as the student who plans to enter graduate school to pursue further study in one of these areas. In addition to audition on the major instrument or voice, admission into the emphasis area requires an application and examination.
