BM - College of Arts and Science

Music (Music History)

The Bachelor of Music (BM) degree with an emphasis in Music History focuses on the history and significance of musical traditions. It is designed for the student who intends to pursue a career as a composer, performer, or college teacher, as well as the student who plans to enter graduate school to pursue further study in one of these areas.

Music majors who wish to pursue a BM in Music History are encouraged to apply for a BA in Music but follow the degree plan for a BM in Music History. At the end of their second year, students should apply to enter the music history program no later than April 1 by contacting the coordinator of the musicology area and arranging an interview to review previous coursework and discuss future interests.
