Pre-Professional

Pre-Podiatry

Though Pre-Podiatry is not an official degree program, Mizzou has resources dedicated to helping interested students pursue admission into podiatry school. These include:

  • MedOpp Advising. The MedOpp Advising Office provides pre-professional advising for ALL pre-med, pre-dental, pre-optometry, pre-physician assistant, and pre-podiatry students at MU. See https://premed.missouri.edu/prospective/ for more information.
  • Academic Advisor.

Podiatry schools accept applicants with a variety of majors which include everything from Music to Engineering; however, most students choose a Mizzou major with degree program requirements that overlap with requirements for medical school such as Biological Sciences, Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological Engineering, Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, Psychology, and Health Sciences.

Although most Podiatrists practice more generally, some specialize in areas such as Sports Medicine; Pediatrics; Dermatology, Radiology; Geriatrics, Surgery, and Diabetic Food Care.
