Overview:
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism is an NRPA /AALR accredited degree program offering comprehensive preparation for graduates in three career areas. Among the first degree programs to obtain national accreditation, PRT trains professionals and creates the applied management strategies to provide, sustain and enhance the provision of parks, recreation and tourism services. It is the only accredited program within Missouri to offer comprehensive training, conduct research, and provide undergraduate options and an extension-outreach service. PRT was established in 1965 and its graduates are professionally recognized, not only within Missouri, but also regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Admission Requirements:
Any student in good academic standing may declare a major in Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
Minimum GPA for Admission: 2.0
Specifically required non-major courses for the BS degree: Communication 1200: Introduction to Speech Communication
Psychology 1000: General Psychology
Human Development & Family Studies 2400: Principles of Human Development
Economics
Sociology 1000 or Rural Sociology 1000
