Overview:
Biology is a broad field centered on the study of living organisms and processes. Many undergraduates majoring in Biological Sciences have pre-professional aspirations, leading to medical or graduate school. Others seek a variety of career opportunities in industry, government service or education. Upper division coursework includes investigative laboratory courses and personalized honors program featuring individualized research projects with faculty mentors that provide an excellent foundation for either advanced study or direct entry into the workplace. The curriculum emphasizes the excitement of discovery and the development of individual creativity and critical reasoning skills.

Academic Information

Admission Requirements:
Must complete Biology 1500,Chemistry 1310, English 1000 and Math 1100 with a grade in the C range or better and have a 2.0 cumulative GPA to file a graduation plan in the College of Arts & Science.

Minimum GPA for Admission: 2.0

Specifically required non-major courses for the BS degree:
Chemistry 1310, 1320, 1330, 2100, 2110, 2130
One year of general physics with laboratory (Physics 1210/1220 or Physics 2750/2760)
Math 1500 or 1400 and 2100, or Statistics 1400 and Computer Science 1040

Specifically required non-major courses for the BA degree:
Chemistry 1310, 1320, 1330, 2100, 2110
One course in physics, geology or astronomy
One course selected from Math 1400 or 1500, Statistics 1400, or Computer Science 1040
