Overview:
The Agricultural Journalism curriculum provides students with training to enter a variety of occupations in the magazine and newspaper fields, radio and television, photography, public relations, advertising and web-based communications. Agricultural Journalists report on the issues that affect people's everyday lives while using their expertise in a specific scientific field such as agricultural biotechnology, medicine or natural resources. Agricultural Journalists understand and communicate the intricacies and impact of science on society.

Academic Information

Admission Requirements:
Students can declare an interest in Agricultural Journalism at anytime. However, the following requirements must be met before taking certain journalism classes:
-A cumulitive GPA of 2.75 before taking Journalism 1100 and
-A cumulative GPA of 2.8 before taking Journalism 2000 and 2100

Minimum GPA for Admission: 2.8

Specifically required non-major courses for the BS degree:
Biology 1010, 1020
Chemistry 1100
Communication 1200

Entry-level courses to sample the major:
Agricultural Journalism 1160
